The Legend of Excalibur

Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur — the most famous blade in Western myth. Some versions of the Arthurian legend tell of the young Arthur drawing a sword from a stone, proving his right to rule Britain. Others — including Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur (1485) — describe Excalibur as a separate, magical sword, given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake, its scabbard granting him protection in battle.

When Arthur fell at the battle of Camlann, he ordered Sir Bedivere to return Excalibur to the lake. A hand rose from the water, caught the sword, and drew it under. The image — sword, water, mist — has stayed with Western culture for fifteen centuries. Every kid who picks up a stick in the garden is, somewhere, swinging Excalibur.

Excalibur in pop culture — from Monty Python to Kingsman

The Excalibur sword has crossed almost every medium: John Boorman's 1981 film Excalibur, Disney's The Sword in the Stone, the BBC's Merlin, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Marvel's Captain Britain, the Fate anime franchise, Kingsman, countless RPGs (Final Fantasy, Skyrim, Elden Ring) and tabletop games. It is the sword that every other legendary sword is measured against.

Real Excalibur sword replicas — what's actually out there

Search for an Excalibur sword replica and you'll find three honest categories: museum-grade decorative replicas (heavy, expensive, wall-only); LARP-foam versions for live-action role-play; and a sea of cheap wall-hanger props. None of them are usable in daily life. What's missing — until now — was an Excalibur-inspired piece you could actually use every single morning.

Excalibur sword & Eggscalibur — FAQsee the full FAQ →

Is the Eggscalibur a real Excalibur sword?

No — Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur. Eggscalibur is a real, working frying pan with a real metal sword hilt as its handle, inspired by the Excalibur legend. The name is a play on Excalibur and 'eggs', the most legendary breakfast.

Can I cut food with the Eggscalibur sword handle?

No. The hilt is a polished SS 316 stainless-steel blade with a dulled edge — built to be safely gripped, mounted on a wall, and admired. It is decorative cookware, not a weapon. The cooking surface is a 24cm food-grade pan.

Where can I buy a real Excalibur sword replica?

Decorative Excalibur replicas are sold by sword specialists, museum gift shops and LARP retailers — quality varies wildly. If what you actually want is a one-of-a-kind, daily-useable Excalibur-inspired piece you can hang on the wall and use, the Eggscalibur is the answer.

Why is it called Eggscalibur?

Eggscalibur is a tribute to Excalibur, King Arthur's legendary sword, married to the breakfast that powers any kitchen warrior — eggs. It is the only frying pan whose handle is a real sword hilt.

Does the sword handle come off the pan?

Yes. The hilt mounts to the pan body with four hex screws and the included driver — about sixty seconds. Many owners assemble it once and use it as a permanent kitchen wall piece between meals.

Real People. Real Reactions.
